About this Hands-on Lab

In this hands-on lab, you will check a Red Hat server to see if there are any security-related updates. You will then update the server to the latest version of the software.

Learning Objectives

Successfully complete this lab by achieving the following learning objectives:

Log in to the Supplied Server

Log in to the supplied server as cloud_user. This will help you test that you can connect to it and run the required commands.

Check the Server to See If There Are Any Updates

Use the appropriate commands to check if there are any pending updates to the operating system and the software that is currently installed.

Use the sudo command to check for the updates, or you may use the sudo command to change to the root user and then check for the updates.

Update the Server’s Operating System and Installed Software

Use the appropriate command to update your server’s operating system and installed software.

You have been tasked with updating a server for all of its bug fixes and all of the updates available for it.

You will use the appropriate commands as required to perform this task.

You may use the sudo command with the required commands, or you may sudo to the root user and then run the commands.
