In this lab, you will subscribe to events on Amazon DocumentDB. After completing this lab, you will have hands-on experience with creating event subscriptions to monitor Amazon DocumentDB database instances.

Learning Objectives

Successfully complete this lab by achieving the following learning objectives:

Create a New Event Subscription

Create a new event subscription with a new ARN to your email address. Specify the source type as Cluster snapshot, for all instances and all categories.

Initiate a Cluster Snapshot

Initiate a manual snapshot of the cluster.

Confirm Receipt of the Event Notification

Confirm receipt or the event notification email.

You are working as a database administrator (DBA) and have been tasked with monitoring backups of the QA department’s DocumentDB cluster. You want to begin by monitoring the database instances for snapshot events. The event notifications should be sent to your email address.

To accomplish this, you will need to complete the following tasks:

  • Create a new event subscription.
  • Initiate a cluster snapshot.
  • Confirm receipt of the event notification.
