This hands-on lab will walk you through the process of implementing IP Address Management (IPAM) on Windows Server.

Learning Objectives

Successfully complete this lab by achieving the following learning objectives:

Install the IPAM Server Role on `BRAIPAM1`
  1. Log in to BRAIPAM1 using the username admin_user@corp.barrierreefaudio.com and the password from the lab details.
  2. Install the IPAM server role on BRAIPAM1.
Provision the IPAM Server
  1. Provision the IPAM server using Server Manager and the following settings:
    • Use Windows Internal Database.
    • Use Group Policy-based provisioning.
Provision the IPAM Group Policy Objects (GPOs)
  1. Provision the IPAM GPOs using Windows PowerShell.
Complete Server Discovery
  1. Complete server discovery.
Manage IPAM
  1. Bring BRADC1 into IPAM management.
  2. Unblock IPAM access.
  3. Manage the DNS server role on BRADC1 using IPAM.

Scenario

You are a senior systems engineer at Barrier Reef Audio, a company that focuses on generating text from speech using a range of high-quality audio equipment and machine learning.

You are responsible for configuring network infrastructure services, including Domain Name System (DNS) and Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) using Windows Server.

In this lab, you will:

  1. Install the IPAM server role.
  2. Provision an IPAM server.
  3. Provision the IPAM Group Policy objects (GPOs).
  4. Complete server discovery.
  5. Manage the BRADC1 DNS server using IPAM.

Lab Setup

In this lab, you will connect to the VMs using Remote Desktop. You won’t need to access the Azure portal.

Important: You should log in as a domain user: admin_user@corp.barrierreefaudio.com
