About this Hands-on Lab

Observability is critical to any cloud native application. In this lab, you will be able to get hands-on with observability in Kubernetes. You will practice retrieving various kinds of metric data from a Kubernetes cluster.

Learning Objectives

Successfully complete this lab by achieving the following learning objectives:

Collect Logs from a Container

In the default Namespace, there is a Pod called food with a container called lettuce. Get the logs from this container.

View Metric Data about Compute Resources Used by Pods

Check how much CPU and memory is being used by Pods in the default Namespace. Are any of them using significantly more resources than the others?

Hint: You can use the kubectl top pods command to view metrics provided by a metrics server that is already installed in the cluster.

Additional Resources

Welcome to TortoiseCorp! We work to build the future of fruit, lettuce, and heat lamps.

We have an application running in the cluster, and we want to be able to retrieve some data about the application so that we can better understand how it is performing. You will need to retrieve the requested data about the application.

This will help us make some decisions about how we can continue to build and optimize our code!

What are Hands-on Labs

Hands-on Labs are real environments created by industry experts to help you learn. These environments help you gain knowledge and experience, practice without compromising your system, test without risk, destroy without fear, and let you learn from your mistakes. Hands-on Labs: practice your skills before delivering in the real world.
