About this Hands-on Lab

In this Live Environment, you are taking on the role of a DevOps Engineer. Your team is deploying an API to Cloud Foundry that will be using a MongoDB database. This Live Environment will show you how to create a backing service and bind it to your app.

Create a MongoDB service
Bind the service to your app

Additional Resources

Register for a Pivotal Cloud Foundry account.

Use the cf-cli to login to your Pivotal Cloud Foundry account.

You will find user-api in /root. This is the application that needs to be deployed to Cloud Foundry.

Execute a cf push using the --no-start flag to deploy the app.

Using the route info from the app, execute export URL=http://<APP_ROUTE>

Create a mlab service using the sandbox plan.

Bind the service to your app and then restart it.

Execute to add some data to your application.

Verify the app deployed by visiting http://<APP_ROUTE>/users in web browser.

Once verified delete the app.
