Learning Objectives

Successfully complete this lab by achieving the following learning objectives:

Add a User and Configure Samba
  • Add smbuser1 to server1.
  • Configure Samba so that smbuser1 has write access to /app.
  • Restart the Samba service.
Add a User to the Client and Log In
  • Add smbuser1 to server2.
  • Log in to the Samba configuration on server1 and verify the /app directory is displayed.

Hello, and welcome to this hands on lab, Configuring Samba Clients. The scenario for the lab is as follows:

  • The IT manager at Eucalyptus and Lavender Incorporated has asked you to create a new Samba user on server1, named smbuser1 with access to /app. Then, verify that you can log in to the /app Samba share from server2 with that user.
  • Create a user on server1 named smbuser1 and also add it to Samba.
  • Then, configure Samba so that smbuser1 has write access to /app.
  • Next, create the smbuser1 user account on the client, server2, and add it to Samba.
  • Log in to the Samba server, server1, from the client node, server2, with the smbuser1 user. Then, verify the /app share is displayed.
