About this Hands-on Lab

In this hands-on lab, you are asked to back up and restore an RDS instance. After completing this lab, students will have hands-on experience working with RDS snapshots.

Learning Objectives

Successfully complete this lab by achieving the following learning objectives:

Create Snapshot

Create a manual snapshot of the existing RDS instance.

Restore Snapshot

Restore a new RDS instance from the snapshot previously created.

You are working as a database administrator and are tasked with making a manual snapshot of the current RDS instance and restoring it to a new RDS instance to be used for QA testing. To accomplish this task, you will need to complete the following:

  • Create snapshot
  • Restore snapshot
