VM Instance user and service account login

I SSH-ed to VM instance and used the ‘whoami’ command it returns user name but when tried to list the config in that it shows service account name.  2.) I tried to delete the VM instance while being connected to the instance and it notification it shows service account has deleted the VM instance. Could some please explain me ?
