Lack of Clarity in the Private Cloud Setup

I looked  at a few places and can’t find a clear answer.

1) Is an on-premise data center infrastructure considered as  Private Cloud ?

   or

2) Setting up a dedicated instance of Azure  or AWS or GCP on customer datacenter is considered as Private Cloud?

Malcolm Porter

1) Depends on what that DC is Offering and to whom. Can you be more specific

Malcolm Porter

2) wjat do you mean by setting up dedicated instance in customer dc, you can not setup up instances (GCP/Azure/AWS) outside of the their own platforms.

Michaelrank

I think he was referencing stuff like AWS Outpost, Azure IoT Edge or Azure Stack

From Technopedia…

Definition – What does Private Cloud mean?

Private cloud refers to a model of cloud computing where IT services are provisioned over private IT infrastructure for the dedicated use of a single organization. A private cloud is usually managed via internal resources.

The terms private cloud and virtual private cloud (VPC) are often used interchangeably. Technically speaking, a VPC is a private cloud using a third-party cloud provider’s infrastructure, while a private cloud is implemented over internal infrastructure.

Private clouds may also be referred to as enterprise clouds.

I believe in the context of this course a Private Cloud is a "container" you put Azure resources in to separate them onto another network.  It’s an organizational principle that supports good security.
