The video shows the System Manager features under Services -> EC2 but there is another under Services -> Management Tools with different options.
When should I use one vs the other?
System Manager (SSM) is undergoing a LOT of change. AWS is building out the service very rapidly, especially in the Console. The primary console interface will be the 2nd feature that you mentioned under Services. That is the full-featured interface to System Manager, which I’m starting to use a lot more for automation via the SSM API from scripting. I almost don’t use the console anymore. I pop open PowerShell_ISE and do pretty much everything from there, especially now that I’ve figured out some key SSM patterns. It’s not very well documented – especially with useful examples.
Psst…this one if you’ve been moved to ACG!
