Announcing More Flexibility for AWS Certification Exams
Original Post:
The prerequisites for each of the Specialty exams are listed below.
So short answer, no. If you want to qualify for the Security Specialty exam, the quickest/cheapest way would be to pass the Cloud Practitioner Certification.
No, you can’t. The option doesn’t light up in the exam portal unless you have the pre-req exams.
I have logged onto my AWS Certification account and there is an announcement that the pre-requisites to the Professional and Speciality exams are no longer required from end of October.
No pre-requisites to take Security speciality exam. Check this updated exam guide:
Anyone who just want certification, take Security Specialty exam. But anyone who want certification for understanding AWS and architect kind of role should take AWS CSA and CDA first.
100%
Precisely. it’s possible from November 2018. However, looking at the responses from fellow exams takers, I think you can pass easily without an associate in Solution Architect, Unless you do AWS security inside out at your job or have experience in this area. Better still everything is possible but if I were you, I will tread cautiously. I have DevOps and SA Pro but i want to be sure am ready with my learning before attempting the security based on the responses I have read so far. I believe for a fact that it’s not near the SA pro but perhaps it has a lot of coverage making it tough
There is a difference between being able to and it being a good idea. The Course is about security in the AWS context. You need a solid foundation in AWS services to understand and apply security. Therefore I would advise passing at least 2x associate courses before attempting any Specialist course. 🙂
