About this Hands-on Lab

In this Live Environment, you’ve been asked by your manager to create a new network that all new Docker containers will be using. The network will be called app-bridge. After creating it, you will need to verify that it works by spinning up a nginx container that will use the new network.

Learning Objectives

Successfully complete this lab by achieving the following learning objectives:

Create a Docker Network

The user will execute:

docker network create app-bridge
docker network ls to list the network

Results should look like:

f71240dce13d app-bridge bridge local
Create the Docker Container

The user should be executing something like:

docker run -dt --name my-app --network app-bridge nginx:latest

docker ps should produce something like:

d5ffa729de09 nginx:latest "nginx -g 'daemon of…" 7 seconds ago Up 4 seconds 80/tcp my-app

Additional Resources

  • Create a new bridge network called app-bridge.
  • Create a docker container called my-app that runs in the background.
  • It should use the latest nginx image.
  • The container should be on the app-bridge network.

What are Hands-on Labs

Hands-on Labs are real environments created by industry experts to help you learn. These environments help you gain knowledge and experience, practice without compromising your system, test without risk, destroy without fear, and let you learn from your mistakes.
