Troubleshoot Configuration

Check the td-agent configuration file and any other relevant files to see why the rsyslog output is not being shown.

Then troubleshoot why the rsyslog output is not being shown in the td-agent stdout log.

Test the Changes Made to the Configuration

Once you have fixed the problems, test the configuration by restarting anything that needs to be restarted.

Test the rsyslog Output Is Being Received

Use another terminal and log in to the provided lab server again, or use a command that would be shown in the standard rsyslog output.

You should see this data is being shown as entries in the Fluentd log.

Additional Resources

A co-worker who doesn't know Fluentd as well as you tried to set up a Fluentd instance to accept logs from the rsyslog system. It doesn't work and you have been asked to help troubleshoot the problem.

A Fluentd server has been provided and there is a problem with the configuration. It should be sending a copy of rsyslog data to the Fluentd stdout. Your tasks are to troubleshoot the problem and resolve it.

Log in to the server as cloud_user with the provided password to ensure you can log in. When the file SERVER-READY is shown in the /home/cloud_user folder, then you can follow along with the tasks.
