About this Hands-on Lab

Your company needs to recover data from a file share, but they do not want to overwrite existing data. You must find a way to restore the file share to a separate storage account, so they can access the data there.

Learning Objectives

Successfully complete this lab by achieving the following learning objectives:

Create Storage Account
  1. Log in to the Azure Portal using the credentials provided.
  2. Add a new storage account with a globally unique name.
    • Select the pre-provisioned resource group, and use the same location as your lab provided resource group. Leave all other settings as default.
Backup and Restore Data
  1. From vault1, take a backup of the existing file share and all of its data.
  2. Once the backup has completed, restore to the newly created file share within the new storage account.

Additional Resources

A Recovery Services vault, and a storage account with data in the file share have been provisioned for this hands-on lab.

Create a new storage account to restore to, as well as a new file share. Take a backup of the existing storage account using the Recovery Services vault. Configure the backup policy to take a backup daily. Locate the backup items in the recovery services vault and select Backup Now.

Once the backup finishes, restore the backup to the newly created file share within the storage account.
