About this Hands-on Lab

In this lab you are working as a QA (Quality Assurance) engineer and have been tasked with confirming two PostgreSQL servers are correctly configured for Primary-Replica replication.

Learning Objectives

Successfully complete this lab by achieving the following learning objectives:

Connect to the Replica Server and Query It

Connect to the replica server using the psql client:

sudo -u postgres psql

Confirm that read-only queries work by listing the databases:

Run a write query, and confirm that it fails:

CREATE DATABASE DEMO;
Connect to the Primary Server and Query It

Connect to the primary server using the psql client:

sudo -u postgres psql

Confirm that write queries work:

CREATE DATABASE DEMO;
Query the Replica Server and Confirm Changes Made on Primary

Back on replica server, re-run the list database command.

You will need to complete the following tasks to do this:
