In this hands-on lab, you will learn the steps needed to configure the server, join the server to the existing domain, add needed roles, and promote the server to a domain controller.

Learning Objectives

Successfully complete this lab by achieving the following learning objectives:

Connect to new-vm
  1. Set the DNS server to main-vm.
  2. Join the corp.sandynetworking01.com domain.
  3. Restart the virtual machine.
Connect to main-vm and Configure the Environment
  1. Log in to the main-vm using RDP.
  2. Install the AD DS server role in Server Manager.
  3. Promote the server to a domain controller in a new forest.
    • Add a new forest with the root domain name corp.sandynetworking01.com.
    • Use the NetBIOS domain name CORP.
    • Default database locations are fine.
Install the AD DS Role and Promote the Domain Controller
  1. Connect to main-vm, and add the newly created server.
  2. Add the AD DS domain services role for the new server.
  3. Promote the new server to a domain controller.

Welcome to Fiji! Our company, Sand, Sun and Oddly Networking, Inc., is a global chain of luxury hotels that specializes in tropic locations. Concerned about high availability, they would like to add an additional domain controller to their existing domain. In this hands-on lab, you will learn the steps needed to configure the server, join the server to the existing domain, add needed roles, and promote the server to domain controller.
