About this Hands-on Lab

JBoss EAP provides an extensive application for creating, deploying, and managing Java-based applications. As such, systems administrators, developers, and others in the application space will need access to JBoss and the JBoss management portal. In this hands-on lab, we use the provided `add-user` script to add, disable, and update users.

Learning Objectives

Successfully complete this lab by achieving the following learning objectives:

Add the `bob` User
  1. Move into the JBoss EAP home directory.

  2. Run the add-user.sh script.

  3. Follow the prompts:

    • Select a) Management User
    • Give the user the username bob
    • Provide a password
    • Do not add to any groups
    • Confirm the user creation
    • This user is not going to be used to connect an AS process to another AS process
Add the `linda` User
  1. Add the linda user by using the script non-interactively.
Disable the `hugo` User
  1. Run the add-user.sh script.

  2. Follow the prompts to disable the user:

    • Select a) Management User
    • Supply the hugo username
    • Select b) Disable the existing user
Update the `teddy` User
  1. Update the teddy user by using the script non-interactively.

Additional Resources

You have recently inherited general JBoss management from a former employee. Your first task as a JBoss administrator is to perform some user management.

Two new employees, Bob (username: bob, group: sysadmin) and Linda (username: linda, group: dev), will be starting Monday and will need accounts. Additionally, you need to disable the account of the former JBoss administrator, Hugo (username: hugo), and add Teddy (username: teddy) to the sysadmin group.

Since this is the first time you are adding users, you want to try by running the script and responding to the prompts, then use a non-interactive command to add the second user.
