Unable to edit the VM instance which is part of a Instance group.

Hello All, I am working on Custom VPC labs on GCP and trying to edit the VM instance which is part of the group to specify a network tag and it seems like the instance should be removed from the Instance group first inorder to edit it. But the lab course shows that this is possible.
