Do I need to also watch Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE): Beginner to Pro for ACE certification?
Hey, great question! It’s excellent that you’re working to plan out your optimal learning journey.
Now, to answer your question: No, you definitely don’t need to watch our new Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE): Beginner to Pro course–but there’s also no question that it would help you understand GKE much better!
For some time, now, I have been sending my ACE students through Nigel’s Kubernetes Deep Dive course with definitive instructions to complete all of its labs with GKE instead of locally or on any other cloud–and this has been quite successful. That said, Tim’s new GKE course seems (as I have not yet had a chance to go through all of it, myself) to also cover everything you’d need–and more! So if you would like to lean in more heavily to GKE–and there’s no question that this could be tremendously valuable for a Google Cloud Engineer!–then feel free to jump into this new course instead. I think it might take a bit longer to do this new GKE-specific course than the K8s-general one, but it might also be a bit easier of a path to the ACE certification.
Anyway, regardless of what you choose to do–whether either one or maybe even both–I’d love to hear back from you about what you did and how you found it!
Keep being awesome!
