default service account

The compute engine API is enabled but I am not able to create a VM from the CLI . I am getting this error, The resource ‘xxxx.gserviceaccount.com; of type ‘serviceAcount’ is not not found. I disabled the compute engine API from the console using –force option. I then enabled the API from the console but still getting the error. Then I disabled and enabled the API from console but still the same error. I checked the log explorer if I deleted the default service account but couldn’t find any. I tried to attach service account to the project via the cli but without a key file this command won’t work and I don’t see the option to create key file for default service account
