If you have an account with 2fa enabled, it does not let you create another account as your phone number is in "use".
Is there any elegant way to overcome this?

As all of these accounts are Google-based, don’t hesitate to try the Google Authenticator app as an alternative method 😉
i just set this up and did not have this issue. Where you in ingognito mode with Chrome it may be picking up some context a previous session?
