Can’t create passphrase

All gone well so far but I’m trying to enter a passphrase as the course guides you to do 8:30 (GCE In and Out), but the shell doesn’t let you write anything in the command line (tried letters, numbers etc.), also if I leave both empty it says "Passphrases do not match. Try again." What to do?
