S3 Performance: Clarification on Prefix performance gains.

Watching the CHAPTER 5.9: Optimizing S3 Performance of certified-solutions-architect-associate there is a comment about how having multiple prefix (folder directories for the bucket) that each will give increased performance at a 5500 per directory addition. I want to make sure that I am understanding this correctly as it sounds like it is worded poorly. It’s not that each directory added will add 5500 to the lowest level directory. If I make a request to lets say "folder1/folder2/folder3/folder4/large file count", I will still only get 5500 GET requests to that single directory right? I understand you want to spread data around, but no matter how many directories I have I get 5500 GET requests PER directory, not 5500 added to each directory I go down.
