Passed AZ-900 Today

Hi A Cloud Guru’s

This is my first Azure certification. Passed with 841 score.

Stunned by the level of questions, don’t underestimate this certification it’s little tricky.

A big thanks to A Cloud Guru and Lars Klint for an Amazing course. Lar’s teaching is unique and sweet.

I did his AZ-900 course last week. So I say doing just one course is not sufficient, according to my perspective.

So, I will write here my exam preparation path and exam review.

I have 2 years of AWS and 6 months of Azure and GCP experience, so I didn’t feel any difficulty with cloud concepts.

They are same in any cloud.

I started reading with the exam blueprint to understand what is the scope of AZ-900.

Check this link it will have everything. Read what is AZ-900.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/learn/certifications/exams/az-900

Then I started with Microsofts free learning path which is nice.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/learn/paths/azure-fundamentals/

Then I started with online courses. I will list out all the courses which I used.

Trust me I have done all of them just to make sure I won’t miss any Azure basics or fundamentals.

A Cloud Guru’s

https://acloud.guru/learn/intro-to-azure

In Udemy

https://www.udemy.com/course/linux-academy-microsoft-azure-concepts/ By Linux Academy.

These will give a very high overview of Azure Fundamentals and it’s services.

The real meat is with the below courses

A cloud Guru’s AZ-900 course

https://acloud.guru/learn/az-900-microsoft-azure-fundamentals

Linux Academy’s AZ-900 course

https://linuxacademy.com/course/microsoft-azure-fundamentals-az-900-exam-prep/

What I personally feel is for below certifications follow these people’s courses.

AWS COURSES = A Cloud Guru

Azure = Skylines Academy Nick Colyer

Scott Duffy

Alan Rodrigues

Thomas Mitchell

GCP = Qwiklabs and Coursera

Hands-on is also must.

So I have also done these courses from Udemy

https://www.udemy.com/course/microsoft-azure-beginners-guide/ Alan Rodrigues

https://www.udemy.com/course/az-900-azurefundamentals/ Nick Colyer

https://www.udemy.com/course/az900-azure/ Scott Duffy

https://www.udemy.com/course/az-900-azure-exam-prep-understanding-cloud-concepts/ Thomas Mitchell

After these courses hit the Whizlabs test papers.

https://www.whizlabs.com/microsoft-azure-certification-az-900/

You are full now and ready for the exam.

Try to read the documentation to understand more about Azure, Microsoft’s documentation is super awesome always, a lot to read.

If you are a multi-cloud guy you will have difficulty to match the services and their names initially.

Coming to the exam I got 42 questions and 90 minutes time. I complete the exam 20 minutes and reviewed twice.

In the start, there are 5 questions it asks about your level of knowledge about cloud and it’s concepts. Then the actual exam starts.

I got true or false questions like 7 and they can’t be reviewed i.e you cant go back to review once you have marked and clicked next.

You can do it for the rest of the questions.

The pattern of the questions is pretty much straight forward but little tricky.

If you do Whizlabs test papers you will be damn good in the exam.

In fact, a couple of questions are straight from Whizlabs shhh.. don’t tell to anyone 😀

A lot of true or false questions, direct questions on what azure services you use for a specific purpose.

They give like 3 options in question you have to select if the statement is yes or no.

Also, there are some drag and drop questions (do the test papers you know what I mean)

Stress more on when to use AAD, RBAC and Policies.

Most of the questions are on Azure AD, Policies, RBAC, locks, Resource Groups.

straight questions from support plans, and also read what service is used for what purpose, and read service definitions.

Questions NSG where and how they are used, cloud service and deployment models, pricing of data in and out, storage accounts blobs,

how to get the achieved data out of the archive,

SLA’s

VPN questions,

CDN,

Paas, Saas, Iaas scenario

Avail Zone questions, compliance manager,

Good luck with your exam feel free to email me joelagassi@gmail.com if you need any help with AZ-900 preparation.

Thank you for sharing this. I just did the SAA and want to gain some knowledge on Azure…wa going to jump right into the az104 or the 300 level certs but decided to at least watch the ACG az900 class. I think I needed it and your post helps confirm that it was a wise investment of my time.

Congratulations! I also passed my AZ-900 exam using ACG’s Microsoft Azure Fundamentals 2020 course. Big shout out to Lars! I also used Tutorials Dojo practice tests on the last 2 weeks of my exam. Really helpful and covers the items that were discussed in ACG.

Thank you for sharing your exam experience. I cleared my AZ-900 this week. I would say lot changed in 2 years. This exam got bit difficult. Don’t use whizlabs, they are quite outdated in 2021 and with recommendation from colleagues I took practice questions from Skillcertpro instead of whizlabs, because Skillcertpro exam questions are very close to what I have seen in my exam. Got nearly 90% from their sets.. Thumb rule is that if you’re scoring above 85% in skillcertpro mock exams you can clear the main exam as well. Also use their master sheet which they provide it for free. Master sheet is very useful as a last-minute guide. I passed my exam with 96%.

I am new to Azure with no technical background..But am preparing on another cloud platform which i am able to understand…So my question was would i be able to pursue Azure without having no technical background..Because i want to start with one Cloud rather than shifting… An early answer would really help me to get to decide..I am lot more motivated by reading the comments of successful Azure Certification members.. Also i had commented this question like 8 days before, so was checking today, since i didn’t get any answer i am posting it here..

how long did it take to get azure fundamental and azure administrator associate?

Adding to this thread – just passed this exam, mostly relying on this course. Big thank you to Lars and the ACG folks who put together such high quality material.

There were some tricky questions. Without getting into specifics, the topic areas I should have studied more in hindsight include:

  • The granular services provided by Azure Monitor

  • When exactly a developer crosses from PaaS into IaaS when integrating different Azure services

  • What is Azure Active Directory Identity Protection and how does it differ from the other security offerings?

  • What is a VPN Appliance and how is it implemented?

  • General familiarity with which high-level blades to select for different services in the portal

  • How does one meet a "high-availability" requirement?

Hopefully this helps a future exam-taker with their prep!

Lars Klint

Thanks a lot for the further feedback Ryan. I have made note of all of this to see if we can improve on the course. Cheers.

Thank You ! Good Luck.

Hello Everyone, just adding to this thread, passed AZ-900 yesterday. Preparation material I used are ACG course by Lars Klint and took practice test from WHIZLABS till I passed each test with atleast 90%. Full disclosure, I havent worked with Azure before so the ACG course really hit home run covering the concepts in a well structured format. So as a next one, I am eyeing DP-200 & DP-201 to get Data Engineer certificate but since I don’t actively work with Azure in my job I was wondering if I should go down this path. Any feedback is greatly appreciated and will help this rookie. I am an Analyst in my current role using MSBI stack for Data Warehousing and T-SQL for analysis. Thank you!

My journey to Azure Cloud begins. I started my Azure journey a few days ago after numerous hours of studying and now I am proud to say I completed AZ-900. I rely on Lars course and Tutorials Dojo practice exam https://portal.tutorialsdojo.com/courses/az-900-microsoft-azure-fundamentals-practice-exams/ and the comprehensive azure cheat sheets https://tutorialsdojo.com/links-to-all-azure-cheat-sheets/. Special thanks to both ACG and TD for delivering excellent online training courses.

Very hard re engineered AZ-900 exam you will really need to study to pass it now.

Thank you for all the great info. I’m scheduled for March 9th to take the exam. Your insights will help a lot I’m sure.

ACG has two courses for AZ-900 preparation…one is taught by Lars Klint and the other is taught by Jason Calton.  Why is that?  Which is most current to someone taking the test in August 2021?

Passed exam AZ-900 today. Thanks AcloudGuru and Lars Klint for providing the platform. Practice test boosted my confidence for final test exam.

Taking the exam this upcoming month. Thanks for the guide!
