How can one become cloud solution architect with Mainframe skills with Cobol, PLI, JCL and application architecture background? Any ideas?

I have lots of colleagues who have transitioned from mainframe to very successful cloud developers and architects. The path is through training and hands-on work. I can start with the Cloud Essentials course and then progress from there.
