This is an exceprt from the storage white paper that contradics the answer to the question #6 where it asks about tolerating multi az failure when utilizing efs: "Amazon EFS is designed to be highly durable and highly available. Each Amazon EFS file system object (such as a directory, file, or link) is redundantly stored across multiple Availability Zones within a Region."

The answer looks correct to me. Did you look at the Create Mount Targets diagram at the linked documentation?
