AWS Chime – is there any company using it?

Coming from a Unified Communications background, I’m curious to know if there’s any company outside Amazon and AWS themselves using Chime.

When they released Chime in 2017, pretending it would revolutionize the Unified Communication industry, I immediately signed up, tried it and got rid of it after 15 minutes. It was so old school and years and years away from what any other professional service was offering… At the time, in 2017, it was not supporting SIP, only H.323, while the entire industry had already started to abandon H.323 !

Anyway, for me it just flagged the service as useless and terrible from day 1. I’d be curious to know if any company is using that service and how it is.

I turns out that Slack just partnerd with Amazon to have all the backend using Chime from now on. So quite some people will be using it without knowing.

Well, you can consult the Chime Customer page on AWS…  I did as I was curious too and I’d say there aren’t a whole lot of names I’m familiar with so that probably tells you something.   It has gotten much better in recent years, but I had the same reaction as you for the early versions.

Yes, I saw that too. That was a surprise to me, coming from that industry. The last tool I would have decide to integrate with would have been Amazon Chime. There are so many way better services from other companies that I don’t understand the choice. I’m wondering how much of that decision is just related to the fact that Slack has much of it’s infra on AWS.
