IAM user in multiple group

Although I know the answer to it, but just want to confirm if a IAM user is part of multiple groups, will both the group policies be checked and still the least access principle be applicable. So in short, if your Administrator user to some other group with restrictive access, he or she would not have the administrative access any more?
