Hello cloud gurus,
For EC2 instance store, if the data is stored physically on the disk than why would it be lost upon stopping the instance?

AWS designed that behavior for instance store volumes as they are designed to be ephemeral. The instances should be designed as replaceable. You can view EC2 lifecycles differences here: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/ec2-instance-lifecycle.html
